I LOVE food! You can probably tell that by looking at me. (Never trust a skinny cook!)
I am happiest when I am in my kitchen making food for my family and friends to enjoy. It “feeds” my soul! God has blessed me with this desire and so I have found a way to use that desire and help others.
I am the nerd who is excited to go the the grocery store. I am also the nerd that can tell you that you paid $0.40 more for that item at one store than the other. By combining my “Dutch” frugality, love of cooking and my desire to grocery shop, I have put together meal plans each week that are balanced, delicious and economical. I love to meal plan but many people do not. I have no idea why…it’s so fun! So, I do the work and you reap the benefits.
Each week I try to add different flavors – Mexican, Asian, Greek, good-old American. I also try to cook a protein once and use it twice to save time.
In reading through my Bible this year, I am highlighting verses that talk about the importance that God puts on food. How an aroma is pleasing to Him. In many places, the Bible discusses people getting together for a meal or feast. God designed our bodies after Himself. He designed us to enjoy food and company. Nothing brings people together as much as sharing a meal. We don’t do it enough in our families or with our friends. One of my spiritual gifts is hospitality. I strive for everyone to feel welcome, accepted and of course, to be well fed. I look at ways to make someone feel welcome and comfortable and that is so easy with food.
I just wanted to let you know where I am coming from. I desire for you to create great meals that you can afford with the hope that you will share the meals with the ones you love. I pray that eating a meal together will create an experience that knits your family (or friends) together even more tightly. That’s what sharing a meal does and that’s why it is so very important! (If you are a take out person, don’t worry. You can bond over that too.)
